Our annual major sponsors
In our next Race Curious event, we’re taking a closer look at one of Santa Cruz’s most beloved cross-country (XC) races: The Old Cabin Classic.
If you've never tried mountain bike racing, if you’ve thought of doing this race but weren't ready to try or even if you've raced it before but want to do better next time, this Race Curious event is for you!
Using the Old Cabin race route, we will:
- Field general questions on racing
- Discuss and test out different line options
- Discuss and practice tricky sections
- Learn how to prepare for and work towards a race
- Cover important tips on nutrition and pre-race routines
- Practice XC race-specific skills like mass starts, pacing, passing and strategy
You can look forward to a great morning of bonding, sharing and confidence-building with other Race Curious women just like yourself! To ensure that everyone gets enough attention and practice time, we're capping the participant number to 10 ladies.
Date: 23 July, Sunday
Time: 10am to 1pm
Location: We’ll meet near the public restrooms in Wilder Ranch State Park. Parking Lot
Parking: $10 per entry, or you could choose to park along Cabrillo Highway just before the turn into Wilder Ranch
If you’ve any questions, contact Sarah Jordan.
See you soon!

Girls Rock Ride, hosted by Juliana Bicycles
Saturday, July 8th
ALL LEVELS WELCOME! (Not sure about your level? Click here.)
It’s our first ride of the summer and we’re kicking it off with two of our favorite things: The legendary loam of Santa Cruz and our homegirl gone big, Juliana Bicycles. You know this ride is going to be one for the books.
Try a Juliana
Juliana Bicycles, Santa Cruz Bicycles' women's line, have put together 30 demo bikes for us. THIRTY. We can’t believe it either. If you want to get on the list, sign-up here and arrive a little earlier on the day to check out your bike.
Eat something, win something
Not demo-ing a bike? Come early anyway to enjoy coffee and breakfast compliments of our hosts at Juliana. Don’t forget to pick up your raffle ticket when you check in; you could win one of two Juliana softgoods prize packages, a Bell helmet, a Camelbak hydration bag, Bollé sunglasses, and many other fun things from Bell Joy Ride and Fox!
Schedule & Location
9:00 am – Arrival, demo check-outs, fuel, mingling, and guide meeting
9:30 am – Presentations, announcements
9:45 am – Raffle!
10:00 am – Roll out to the trails
12:00 - 2:00pm – Ride ends, demo bikes to be returned
Head straight on to Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing for post-ride, no-host beers and bites!
We’ll meet and roll out from the Santa Cruz Bicycles HQ. All demo bikes are to be returned here as well.
With the Westside Farmers Market going on in the lot directly across from Santa Cruz Bicycles (Western Drive and Mission Extension), surrounding free street parking will be scarce. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Be a Guide!
Are you interested in leading or sweeping for this or future Girls Rock rides? We always appreciate help in this department! Sign up for our guide email list here (the form is on the bottom right of the page) then look out for a separate email communication regarding guiding.

Tickets to our rides go quick, so if you're interested, book your spot now! You can always come back to Eventbrite and change your reservation if you can't make it after all. Looking forward to seeing you on July the 8th!
The Girls Rock Holiday Social (No RIDE!) at MJA Vineyards
Meet, mingle, and shake some holiday jingle at our first annual holiday partay! Bring a dish to share and join us for no-host MJA wine and holiday cheer, off the bikes. Enjoy the company of our awesome community but without the helmet hair!
Please bring a credit card to make a year-end donation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.
Why collect funds vs. food?
According to Second Harvest, they love receiving donated food during their Holiday Food Drive, but funds go so much further. They’re committed to an efficient operation, and direct donations are the very best use of your money.
December 17, 2016 from 12 - 3pm
MJA Vineyards, 328 Ingalls St, Santa Cruz, CA 95060
Street parking is free, but limited. Please help make the event green by carpooling, biking or walking (so long as you can transport your dish).
